We're All Nuts!

Goober was packed in a sack with many other peanuts. All the sacks were placed in a big red truck with a picture of peanuts on the side.

As Goober traveled with the other peanuts, he wondered, “What am I? What is a peanut?”

“Am I part pea and part nut?” he asked himself. It really wasn’t clear.

Synopsis
A peanut named Goober discovers that he isn’t a nut, but a legume. The revelation shocks him and causes unhappiness. He would rather be a nut than legume. The story is the road he follows to self-acceptance. Ages 6 to 11. Goober was packed in a sack with many other peanuts. I have been a writer for most of my life. Or, maybe I’ve been a storyteller. It’s hard to know for sure. In the fifth grade, a poem, my first published work, Ethan Allen and the Green Boys, appeared in the school newspaper.
