While Dr. Psych sat and waited for his next patient, Tac realized it was time to have a little therapy session himself.
“Dr. Psych?” Tac called out.
Dr. Psych looked around the office, but didn’t see anyone.
“Down here.” Dr. Psych looked at the aluminum can sitting on his desk.
“My name is, Tac.” Dr. Psych jumped up and locked the door. It just wouldn’t look right for a Psychologist to be talking to a can.
“What’s the problem Tac?”
“My life.” he sobbed.
“Tell me about it,” he suggested.
He shivered at the thought of having to recall his past. He gazed longingly out the window.
“Well… it all started when I was born from Mama Bauxite.

Once upon a time there was a white wolf named Frost who lived in The Enchanted Forest of Rising Moon Lake. Frost was the leader of the entire forest. There was even a fire-breathing dragon that lived in the forest! He was a baby blue dragon and he could not breathe fire yet. He just was not old enough to produce fire. The little dragon's name was Sparky. Sparky flew around the forest with the other birds.
There were several birds in the forest. There was a bald eagle named Freedom, a hawk named Jet, a wise old owl named Hooter, a turkey buzzard named Buzz, a bat named Creepy, Woody the Redheaded Woodpecker, and Raven the crow. There were also two swans that lived in the lake by the forest. There was a black swan named Knight and a pretty white swan named Queenie.
There were many animals in the forest. There was another gray and white wolf named Timber. There were also three black wolves that were troublemakers named Dark, Dusk, and Shade. There were two mountain lions named Prowler and Sky, a possum named Hanger, Blackie the Black Bear, Boomer the Buffalo, Snort the wild pig, Howler the coyote, Lizzy and Tizzy the two deer, Wonder the raccoon, Foxy the Fox, Scooter the skunk, and Poker the Porcupine.
There was also a little lizard named Dusty and a beautiful black, yellow and white striped caterpillar named Chewy. Chewy could not wait to turn into a butterfly so he could fly around the forest.
There was a little glass frog that you could see through! You could even see everything inside of him! His name was Shiny. He had a little green tree frog that was his best friend. The tree frog was named Moss. Moss could glide from tree to tree. He had web-like feet that had skin between the toes. This helped him to glide, and he looked just like he was flying!
There was a magical tree in the center of the forest named Magic. Magic was alive! He had the face of a man, and he could talk! He was always watching over the forest and protecting it. There was a magical dust in the branches of his tree that was very powerful.
Sparky was practicing hard trying to breathe fire. He was able to produce one little spark! Sparky tried again. This time he was able to produce two sparks. He tried again. The third time he produced fire! The forest was very dry because it had been so long since it had rained. Sparky didn't know how to control his fire yet. His fire hit the dry leaves of the forest and started a forest fire, which spread very quickly. Sparky flew to Frost very scared, and he told him what he had done. Sparky was very sorry and told Frost he did not mean to start the forest fire. Frost took off running towards the fire to see how bad it was. It was very bad! Frost yelled for everyone to leave the forest right away and head for the lake. Everyone started running and flying to the lake.
Scooter the skunk got trapped in the fire! The fire was getting closer and closer to him. Suddenly, a forest ranger pulled up in a jeep and jumped out. He ran over to Scooter and picked him up. When he did, Scooter sprayed him with his stinky skunk spray! Scooter didn't mean to spray the forest ranger. He was just very scared. He knew that the forest ranger was trying to help him. The forest ranger made an ugly face and covered his nose with his hand. He drove Scooter to the lake and quickly released him. Then the forest ranger jumped out of his car and ran into the lake. He started trying to wash the skunk smell off of him as fast as he could.
Some of the other animals were trapped in the fire too. Frost yelled for all of the large birds to fly around and to find any animals that were trapped in the fire. They could swoop them up and rescue them. Freedom, Jet, Hooter and Buzz took off flying. They were able to rescue Hanger, Wonder, Dusty, Shiny and Chewy. Everyone was safe at the lake now.
Frost told Sparky to fly to the magical tree in the center of the forest. He told him to ask Magic for some branches with the magical dust in them to stop the forest fire. Sparky took off flying to the center of the forest. When he got there, the fire was getting very close to Magic! Magic told Sparky to hurry and break off two of his branches with the magical dust in them. He then told him to fly over the fire and drop the branches on the fire. He told him that the magical dust in his branches would put the fire out. Sparky broke off two branches and flew over the fire with them. He dropped them into the fire. Suddenly, the fire died down and went completely out. Sparky had started the fire, but he had also saved everyone from the fire!
Sparky returned to everyone at the lake. He did not know if everyone was going to be mad at him or not. They were not mad at him, and they all cheered for him. They all knew that he did not mean to start the fire. They already knew that Sparky felt so bad about what had happened. He promised everyone that he would be more careful with his fire next time.
Prowler told everyone that she had some good news. She said that she and Sky were going to have some little cubs very soon! About a month later, Prowler gave birth to two little mountain lion cubs. She had a male and a female. She named her cubs Harley and Hazel.
The next day, Queenie told everyone that she was going to have babies very soon too. Everyone was so excited. About three weeks later, Queenie had four little baby swans! She named her baby swans Bubbles, Boo, Sue and Lou.
One day, Dark, Dusk and Shade were up to no good. They had planned an attack on Frost. They wanted to be the leaders of the forest. Suddenly, they jumped Frost and started a fight with him. It was three against one! Frost was a very strong wolf. He could probably even fight two of them off. There was no way he could win a fight against three wolves at the same time. Suddenly, all of the other animals of the forest started helping Frost. They all wanted Frost to be their leader, not the three black wolves. The three black wolves finally gave up after getting beaten up by the mountain lions. They ran off into the forest. Frost yelled at them as they were leaving. He told them not to ever come back. There was peace in the valley again. Dark, Dusk and Shade were from another forest. They had also been kicked out of their forest. Frost had welcomed them to The Enchanted Forest a few years earlier, and told them they could stay as long as they did not cause any trouble again.
Mango is a Sun Conure or Sun Parakeet, and Kiwi is a Double Yellow-Headed Amazon Parrot. Their owner Trina lives in Oklahoma, and she bought both of them at a Bird Fair in Tulsa. Trina saw so many lovely birds at the Bird Fair that it was very hard to decide which birds she wanted to take home. She finally picked a Sun Conure and a Double Yellow-Headed Amazon Parrot. She fell in love with all the colorful feathers that they have. Trina took both birds home and became very attached to them in no time at all. Trina thought they were both sweet and beautiful.
She put their cages close to a window so they could see outside. Her birds were able to enjoy all the wild birds and animals that came around Trina's house. Her house has a fantastic view of Keystone Lake. It is in the country surrounded by thick woods.
The next day she gave Mango and Kiwi a bath. She put both of them in the shower on a shower perch. They enjoyed their shower and then she blow-dried both of them until they were all nice and fluffy. Mango and Kiwi looked so pretty.
Mango loves to eat popcorn. He also likes to eat large noodles. He uses his feet like hands to help him eat. Trina took pictures of Mango eating popcorn and large noodles.
Trina has a large guard dog named Smoke. Smoke is a black Chow. He sleeps right next to Trina's bed each night. Smoke makes Trina feel very safe.
Trina enjoys the visitors that come to her house each day. She never knows what will show up outside on her back porch. She looked out one day and saw two turkeys stepping up on her back porch! Then the two turkeys jumped up on her back patio table and started eating the birdseed that she had put out for the wild birds. She thought that was pretty wild and loved watching the turkeys. One of the turkeys walked right up to her back glass door. Then the turkey spread its tail feathers all the way out. It was amazing to watch up close. Turkeys have beautiful feathers.
Trina has a large pine tree just outside her living room window in the front of her house. She planted the pine tree from a little seedling. There is a beautiful Mourning Dove who lives in the pine tree! Everyone loves to watch the dove from the front window. She named the dove Lonesome. She feeds him birdseed every day. There are also two stray chickens that showed up and now live in the thick bushes in the front of her house. She puts a pile of birdseed out for the chickens too. She named the chickens Butter Rump and Butternut.
It was very late in the evening and Trina was in bed sleeping when Smoke woke her up barking. He took off running to the back door barking even louder and growling. Trina jumped up and ran to see why Smoke was barking. Mango and Kiwi started screaming. She looked over at the back door and saw a coyote in her house! Smoke attacked the coyote, and the coyote ran back out the doggie door. After that scary night, she closed the doggie door so they would all be safe from wild animals coming into the house. She thought the coyote looked sick, so Trina took Smoke to the animal hospital. The coyote had bitten Smoke on his back leg. Smoke had to have several stitches put in his leg and they gave him a shot so he wouldn't get sick. Smoke was a hero! He had saved Trina from the coyote.
A couple of days later, Mango and Kiwi both started screaming. Trina ran over to look out the window to see what was scaring her birds. Her mouth dropped open. There was a large Black Panther on her back porch! She knew there were Black Panthers in Oklahoma, but she had never seen one. She thought it was gorgeous. You can live in Oklahoma your whole life and never see one. Suddenly, she saw another Black Panther! This one was smaller and came up right behind the large Black Panther. Both of the Black Panthers sniffed all around the back porch until the large Black Panther saw Trina. As soon as it saw Trina, it got spooked and took off running.
Harry and Larry are the world's favorite canaries. From the beginning of their memory the two brothers grow from small birds living in a little pet shop, into amazing pet birds full of fun and mischief. Harry and Larry are happy go lucky types, but when danger strikes they can get very serious. To these canaries no day is a boring one!
Molly and Magnum are very attached to each other. They have been raised together. They are best friends. Molly is a Blue-And-Gold Macaw and Magnum is a Great Dane. Great Danes are huge! Magnum weighs 175 pounds. He weighs as much as a human! Magnum's father weighed 200 pounds! Now that is a big boy. The male Great Danes weigh a lot more than the females.
Molly talks to Magnum all the time because macaws can talk! Molly has learned how to say many words. Molly can even say, "Magnum." Molly loves Magnum, and they play together all the time. They keep each other company during the day while their owner is at work. They have been together for ten years.
Mindy bought Molly from a breeder in Oklahoma. Mindy was so excited to finally bring Molly home. Molly was hand-fed and hand-raised by the breeder. She was very tame and so gentle.
The breeder called Mindy and said, "You better come over right now! Molly is hatching out of her egg!" Mindy rushed over to the breeder's house so she could watch Molly hatch out of her egg. Mindy got there just in time to see it. That is when she fell in love with Molly. She took several pictures and even recorded a video. It was so exciting! After Molly hatched out of her egg, Mindy went to the breeder's house to visit as often as she could. She was able to hold Molly when she was just a few days old.
Mindy had always wanted a macaw. She even dreamed about owning one. Now her dream was coming true! She had always thought macaws were beautiful.
Mindy's house was full of fun and excitement now that she had Molly and Magnum. Mindy lived by herself and would get very lonely at times. Now, Mindy was never lonely or sad. Mindy had so much fun playing with Molly and Magnum. Mindy was teaching Molly new words. Molly is very smart and loves to talk. They both make Mindy laugh all the time.
Mindy always takes Magnum for a walk every night after she gets home from work. Everyone in the entire neighborhood loves to see Magnum when he is outside. The smaller children always come up to Mindy and ask her if they can ride Magnum like a horse! They beg her saying, "Please."
Macaws are members of the parrot family. They have large powerful beaks that can easily crack nuts and seeds. They also have beautiful long tails. They like a lot of attention and love to have their heads scratched. They also like cuddling. Macaws like to chew, so you have to give them plenty of toys to play with and to chew on. The Blue-And-Gold Macaws have five colors: yellow, blue, black, white and green.
One day, Mindy had to call a repairman to her house because her washer quit working. The repairman came and fixed Mindy's washer.
Late that night Mindy and Magnum were upstairs sleeping, while Molly was downstairs sleeping in her cage. The repairman came back to their house and broke in the back door! He had a cage with him and grabbed Molly. He shoved Molly in the cage. Molly started screaming! Then Molly screamed, "Magnum!" He took off running out the back door with her. Magnum had heard the burglar break in, and he also heard Molly screaming his name. Magnum took off racing down the stairs and chased after the burglar. There was no way Magnum would let this burglar steal his sweet best friend Molly. Magnum caught up to the burglar and pounced on him with all of his weight! The burglar fell to the ground and Magnum held him down. Mindy heard all of the noise and had already called the police. She came running out the back door and saw Magnum on top of the burglar! She yelled, "Good boy Magnum!" Every time the burglar tried to get up, Magnum started growling at him. The burglar was very scared of Magnum, so he stopped fighting. Magnum was very proud that he had saved Molly and was able to stop the thief. Molly was okay, but she was very shaken up. Her cage had fallen down to the ground and rolled over when Magnum pounced on the burglar. Mindy was glad that Molly was safe.
I had no idea why I was there. I hadn’t done anything, apart from not handing in History homework. And talking too much in Maths. And pushing over Matthew after assembly. “I haven’t done anything.” I said.
Miss Simpson held up a letter by its corner, as if it were a disc of dog dirt. “Your parents have written to confirm you’re leaving.” She looked at me. “Tomorrow.” She peered over the top of her silver semi-circular spectacles, retained on a chain around her neck, as if they would ever dare to escape. She was clearly irritated by the thought of any child wanting to leave her school. Not just any school, but her school. Her narrow lips, tightly moulded hairstyle, sharp features and practiced flinty expression made my knees shake. “I have the letter here.”
“I think that’s wrong,” I ventured. “I’m not leaving; I’m staying here.”

July 8, 2014, was a very special day at Linda's Bird House because that is the day I was born! I am a teeny tiny little bird. I looked like a little alien when I was first born! I was pretty funny looking because I didn't have any feathers yet. I really did look like some kind of creature from another planet! I am a female cockatiel. My breeder hand-fed me and hand-raised me, so I am very tame. I have a sister that looks just like me!
The cockatiel is a member of the cockatoo family. Cockatiels are native to Australia. Cockatiels can be trained to talk! The males are usually the only ones that will talk. A female can talk, but it is harder to teach them to talk. They are also harder to understand than the males. They love to whistle too! They are very colorful and the males are more colorful than the females. The males have white or yellow heads. The females have grey heads. The males and females both have pretty orange cheeks. There are several different kinds of cockatiels. They love attention and make wonderful family pets because they are very loving. They love to sit on your shoulder. Some cockatiels have lived to be 22 years old! Most cockatiels live about 15 years. The better care you take of your cockatiel, the longer it will live.
A nice woman named Barbara bought me from Linda's Bird House in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, as a gift for her mother. Her mother was afraid of me, so Barbara brought me to live in her house in Norman, Oklahoma. Her niece named me Anna after the star in the movie "Frozen."
Barbara had two parrots. One of her parrots was a Blue Quaker named Blue. Blue started bullying me, and one day he plucked out all my pretty long tail feathers! One of my tail feathers is still all chewed up on the end. Barbara was attached to me, but she knew she needed to find a new home for me because Blue wouldn't stop picking on me. Blue and I were always together, so I don't know why he did that to me! I thought we were friends. He was being a bad boy. It is not nice to bully someone! Blue was much bigger than I was. I screamed when he was doing it, but he wouldn't stop! He just kept on attacking me until he plucked all my tail feathers completely out! I think he was jealous of me! Barbara put me on her shoulder all the time and I don't think he liked her giving me all that attention. He wanted all of her attention.
Barbara gave me to her best friend who lives in Texas. It was a long trip from Oklahoma to Texas. It was late and I finally arrived at my new home. I was very scared. I hissed at my new owner the first time she tried to get me to step up on her finger. I hissed at her again later too. I bit her, but I didn't bite her hard. The next day, I wasn't as scared as I had been the previous day. I stepped up on her finger and she put me on her shoulder. I liked it up there. She was nice to me. She hand-fed me Cheerios and sunflower seeds. Oh how I loved those Cheerios! I loved all the attention too. I started whistling and having fun. I knew that she wasn't going to hurt me, so I wasn't afraid of her anymore. I stopped hissing at her and I didn't try to bite her anymore. She says, "step up" for me to get on her finger. Then she will say, "perch" and I step off on my perch. I have been trained to do this. I let her pet me all the time.
Barbara sent a bag of goodies for me to my new home. She sent a cage, a food bowl, food, two bird beds, some toys, millet spray, and a jungle gym. Yes, a jungle gym! She is such a nice person! I will miss her. She took such good care of me.
I heard two more birds in the house. They started singing and whistling at me. Then they started chirping at me. I liked it and it made me feel at home. I whistled back at them. I looked over and saw two yellow canaries in my room! Canaries are songbirds. The males are the only ones that can sing. Their names are Ricky and Lucy.
I am five months old now and my tail feathers are finally starting to grow back! I can't wait for my feathers to grow back. I need my tail feathers to fly! I have been at my new home for a week now! I have a HUGE cage where I can fly around inside my cage. My new owner lets me out of the cage every day too. She puts me on her shoulder or she puts me on top of the cage where I run around, play and eat. When she puts me on top of the cage, you can hear the pitter patter of my little tiny feet when I run around up there! She starts laughing when she hears it. She thinks it is so adorable. Sometimes when my owner puts me on top of my cage to play, I jump off and try to fly! I can't fly. My feathers have been clipped so I can't fly. Plus, my tail feathers haven't grown all the way back yet. It is good for me to try to fly. It is fun too! As soon as I land on the floor, I want to be picked up. I start screaming until my owner picks me up and puts me back up on my cage. I am afraid something will get me if I am on the floor. I don't like it on the floor at all! It is scary!
