Eeva Lancaster Interview

I'm deeply involved in the Indie industry. Editing, Writing, Book and Cover Design, Marketing... I love helping authors publish high quality books. To be honest, I have no patience for those who don't even try. See, I love to read. The first picture of me holding a book, I was in the crib! So, sloppy books offend me on a personal level. To me, it's no different than serving spoiled food in the restaurant.

What inspired you to write?
Life... there's so much about life that I want to discuss, experiences I want to share.

Did the inspiration to write come to you suddenly, or had you been thinking about it some time?
My books are all written down... but only in my mind, alas. They're simply waiting for me to type them in a Word document.

How did you tell your story? In other words, did you use an outline, or just write your story from start to finish?
I'm kind of a scattterbrain, what with all these thoughts and opinions going round and round in my mind... but I try to follow an outline.

Did you receive any encouragement from family and friends, or did you work on your book alone?
Here in the Philippines, being an author will elicit a "What do you mean?" response. Even from family. They know it, but they can't quite grasp the full meaning of it. An author would be Danielle Steel or Dan Brown. Eeva, an author? You gotta be kidding.

What was the most difficult part of writing your book?
Compelling my thoughts to fall in line.
People who read my blog will know what I mean.

What was the most enjoyable aspect of writing your book?
All of my books are a purge for me. Once I publish a book, I can forget about the topic and move on. I'm a natural mentor and I love sharing information.

What’s something that gets in the way of your creativity?
I'm living inside a creativity bubble... Sometimes, I get overloaded. Sadly, nothing gets in the way. It's my work. I would love too be interrupted once in a while.

What strategies do you use to deal with criticism?
As a Creative, I welcome criticism. It helps me grow. In the Indie Industry, it's so rare. Very few will come up to me and criticize. I would have loved to hear it personally and improve my work. I'm a perfectionist, but I'm not perfect. I make mistakes, and I would welcome anyone honest enough to tell me about it.

Do you have a favorite quote?
"I never saw a wild thing sorry for itself. A small bird will drop frozen dead from a bough without ever having felt sorry for itself." - D. H. Lawrence

What is your favorite show on TV?
Supernatural and Game of Thrones.

Favorite book?
Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand

Who would you want to meet if you could? Dead or alive.

Is there a talent you wish you had?
Animations. I tried to learn it but it was simply beyond me.

What’s something about you that would surprise us?
I'm kinder than I sound.
