Dennis Koller

Born and raised in San Francisco, Mr. Koller spent many years as a senior level marketing administrator in the California college and university system. In 2009, he left university life to become the Executive Director of the SS Jeremiah O’Brien, a WWII Liberty Ship berthed at Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco. It was while serving in that post that Mr. Koller became involved with veterans of America’s wars, from WWII through Iraq and Afghanistan.

At the beginning of 2013, Mr. Koller left the O’Brien, figuratively “jumping ship,” to scratch his itch for writing. Since then, he has published three novels and is working hard on his fourth. In August of 2014, he published a mystery-thriller, "Kissed By The Snow,” about a secret FBI drug taskforce that devises a plan to finally win America’s war on drugs. In May of 2016, Koller published his political mystery-thriller, "The Oath.” As Mike Billington, himself an author and Vietnam veteran, wrote about the novel, “A dying former POW, four dead women, a world-weary homicide cop and the Vietnam War are expertly woven together by Dennis Koller in a masterful piece of storytelling that will leave you guessing right until the last few pages.”

Along with being rated a “must read” on the Naval Order of the United States web-site, “The Oath” won the prestigious 2016 BAIPA Book Award for Fiction. Koller's newest novel, an historical mystery-thriller titled "The Custer Conspiracy,” was published in October of 2016. The novel received the great honor of being reviewed in Publishers Weekly.

Mr. Koller is a member of the Naval Order of the United States; the Navy League, the Marines Memorial in San Francisco, the Military Writers Society of America; the California Writers Club; the Independent Book Publishers Association, and is on the Board of Directors of the Bethlehem Shipyard Museum, also in San Francisco. Mr. Koller holds an undergraduate degree in Philosophy and a graduate degree in Business Administration, both from Saint Mary's College of California. He is published by Pen Books and lives with his wife Sarah in the San Francisco Bay Area.

I had a story I wanted to tell. I thought it would be a one-off. But when I finished that first novel, The Oath, I already had another story I wanted to tell. I'm now writing the -fourth- story I want to tell.
