Richard Wilbur, RIP

Although I have traveled far and wide, I am never far from the Monongahela Valley. I am a second-generation American; the Old Countries are never far from me. The wood, and hills, rivers and “cricks” have given me an appreciation for nature.

America's second Poet Laureate, Richard Wilbur, has died. He twice won the Pulitzer Prize. The obit below shows his interesting background and gives a glimpse of his fine poetry. Although I have read some of it, now I want to read more. I had not known that he was a combat veteran of World War II.
