Gray (Awakening Book 1)

The moisture in the air condensed into droplets, then began to whirl. It danced for me, like the water wanted nothing more than to bring joy to me.
I stared. It was me. The water had answered my call. I had asked its help and it had answered me happily, like an old friend.
“I am the Gray One,” I whispered, my mind and body in perfect accord with the earth.
How could I have forgotten something so wonderful? Water, air and stones were my friends. I had missed their company.

Shannon Reber was born a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away . . . or her imagination was anyway. She lives in western New York with her husband and a wide variety of both real and imaginary friends who often battle it out for dominance in her head. Who needs yet another normal person in this messed up world? Read her books, or the evil overlord will take control of her mind!

Gray (Awakening Book 1) is a mind-blowing fantasy novel that takes place mainly in the real world, but there are plenty of elves and magic. The plot is original and suspenseful which keeps the reader wanting more. The characters are detailed so well that you love the heroes and despise the villains. There are lots of surprises as we learn Shayla's secrets as she does. I could not put this book down. I read it in just a couple of hours. I am eager to read the sequel and other works by this author!
