I wasn’t originally thinking of staying at Amari Phuket, but I’m sure glad I did. My friend, Negin, found this beautiful hotel and it is a gigantic place close to the famous Patong beach. Patong beach is known for party-goers, so it can be a bit loud at night if your hotel is right on that street, but this resort was up on a hill away from all the noise which was perfect for me.

Amari Phuket is an hour away from the Phuket airport, so the hotel had a driver pick me up at the airport. I heard that getting a taxi at Phuket airport could be a nightmare, so it was great that I was able to find my driver right away and be on my way. I wanted to know a little bit about the area but I don’t think the driver spoke much English, so it was a quiet hour-long ride.
Amari Phuket is right on the beach
When I got to the resort at 9:30 PM, it was pretty chaotic. There were so many people gathered around the lobby area. I’m assuming this is a pretty popular hotel since it’s pretty fancy and in a great location for a great price. One of the staff members came up to take my luggage for me before I went to check-in at the front desk.
I booked a room with a balcony (a necessity for me these days), but when I went to check in, for some reason, they did not have the room for me and suggested I stay in a standard room for one night and then switch to the balcony room the next night. I was not happy with this and when they saw my disappointment, they happily upgraded me
