Resolutions require nothing in return!

Resolutions trick us into thinking we're taking action. Dictionary.com gives many definitions of Resolution. But in my experience, a resolution is no better than a wish followed up by short-term action.

I've made many NY resolutions in my life; lose weight, exercise daily, smile more, but invariably these "goals" failed. Or rather, I failed to keep up the commitment to achieve them. Why?
